“you know that it’s time to be leaving, when the stuff in your cup is controlling you”
dad and i got the bus together yesterday morning, he was going to cambridge and i, London. He waved me off at the platform and although it was 10:20 i was surprisingly awake, i got my seat on the fully reserved carriage and read through my favourite short stories from ‘johnny panic and the bible of dreams’ before dozing off like most people on the train. upon arrival at london liverpool street my initial feelings were that perhaps, two pairs of tights, socks, strappy top, dress, two jumpers, coat, hat, scarf n gloves were not enough for this partictular day. but i met harry at platform 10 and we jumped on a tube to covent gardens which was equally cold and drizzly. we watched ‘the magic of christmas’ video whilst waiting for julia and jamie to arrive before having a wander around going in aRTBOx, the MOOMIN SHOP which was up a very tight staircase, and when we were leaving a group of people mistook it for the pub entrance. We saw a man playing guitar with his ginger cat on lead, it was very cold and rainy and i felt awful for the cat so gave the man some money hoping that he’d get into the warmth if he made enough. The market signs advertised “sausage delight, FRY CHICKEN and ‘sandwitches’ ” . We went to Southwark for the christmas market which was disappointing and nothing on the tackiness of Winter Wonderland who posed a ‘christmas’ ghost train (the only christmas hat being on the skeleton outside), after experienecing the ghost train, well all 00:34 seconds of it which costed us £4 each uh.
yesterday evening was brilliant waiting in the cold and managing to get the second pew, julia and i thought lyrically the first support was creative with his use of “i love her and she loves me, she’s my mUMMy”. Slow Club came on performing Disco 2000 which they made entirely their own (sheffield bands unite!), followed by new songs, lots of paradise(!!) and then a dance around at the end to christmas songs “this one is made famous by michael buble”. Their stage presence and on stage enjoyment projected into the audience which is always refreshing and especially nice to see. The evening seemed to go even quicker than last year and i was getting emotionally attached to the man infront whos out-of-time head bob n arm shaking was contending against the man we renamed “jason bourne” whom we watched take picture after picture of jUST Rebecca, it became kinda creepy after a while (the whole set).
Afterwards we popped upstairs to the “after party” we admired the leaflets and not the price of the beers, then i finALLy got to meet Rebecca (hiya if you are reading this ha!) who shouted “RUUUUUBY!!!” then to her friend “this is the girl i’m obsessed with this is her!!!”, it was so nice seeing her as it was not awkward at all but like we’d been pals for ages and i didn’t blurt out with things like “i love your band so much you guys are SO COOL”. Actual conversation about starting our own band called “the babez” where rebecs will play bass (cos bassists are sassy), the internet and whether or not i prefer slow club to best coast.
